Samsung A56 vs. A55: the new top of the mid-range
The Samsung Galaxy A56 may only differ by one number from the Samsung Galaxy A55, but the phones have quite a few differences. In this blog you can read about all the exact updates for the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G and what exactly sets it apart from the Galaxy A55 5G.
What are the biggest differences between the Samsung A56 and A55?
Although the A56 looks very similar to the A55, there are some new specifications. These are the main changes between the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Samsung Galaxy A56 :
- Charging at 45 watts instead of 25 watts
- 6.7-inch screen instead of 6.6-inch
- The Exynos 1580 processor
- A new camera island
- More software updates (6 years instead of 4)
- Longer security updates (6 years instead of 5)
The design of the Samsung A56 vs. A55
Much of the Samsung A56 looks identical to the Samsung A55, but there are some subtle differences. The glass back and the flat aluminum frame with rounded edges have stayed the same, but this time the screen is 6.7 inches instead of 6.6. Despite the larger display, the A56 is also a bit lighter and slightly thinner.
The most striking difference in design is the new camera island. On the Galaxy A55 the camera sensors were placed directly on the back in a row. The Galaxy A56 now has an oval camera island for its three sensors.
What colors are available for the Samsung Galaxy A55 and A56?
- A55: light blue, lilac, yellow, and dark blue
- A56: dark gray, light gray, green, and pink
Samsung Galaxy A56 vs. A55: what is different about the display?
- The A56 screen size is 6.7 inches, slightly larger than the A55’s display of 6.6 inches.
- The resolution remains the same at 2340 x 1080 pixels.
- The refresh rate is still up to 120 Hz, giving you a smooth picture.
There is another subtle difference compared to the A55. The Samsung A56 has a dynamic refresh rate. That means you can enjoy 120 Hz while scrolling or watching videos, but with static images the refresh rate drops, saving energy.
The processor of the Samsung A56 vs. Samsung A55
The Samsung A56 uses the Exynos 1580 processor. This is Samsung’s own chip and a worthy successor to the Exynos 1480 used in the Samsung A55. Thanks to this new chip, the Samsung Galaxy A56 is more powerful and ensures that the phone runs faster, which is always welcome when upgrading. It can handle heavier graphic tasks, which is especially important if you like gaming on your phone.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A56's camera better than that of the A55?
The resolution of the main camera, ultra-wide camera, and macro lens are exactly the same as those of the A55:
- Main camera: 50 megapixel
- Ultra-wide camera: 12 megapixel
- Macro camera: 5 megapixel
You can also still film in 4K, which is more than good enough for most people. What has changed, however, is the selfie camera. Although it has gone from 32 to 12 megapixels, it now has a larger sensor. Despite the lower megapixel count, the quality of selfies has still been improved.
The battery of the Samsung A56 vs. A55: which one is better?
The Samsung A56 has the same 5000 mAh battery as its predecessor. This is an average size battery that will get you easily through the day. Of course, streaming and gaming use more power than scrolling social media or replying to WhatsApp messages.
Which Samsung Galaxy charges faster, A56 or A55?
The Samsung Galaxy A56 has faster charging. It charges at 45 watts, compared to the Samsung Galaxy A55 at 25 watts. With the A56 you can now fully charge your battery within an hour.
If you use your phone intensively and usually run out of battery before the end of the day, the faster charging of the A56 is definitely a welcome upgrade.
