What can you do with prepaid credit?

You need credit to make calls and use the internet with your Prepaid SIM. You can also use your credit to activate Prepaid internet bundles or order a replacement SIM card. On this page, you will find everything you need to know about topping up and using your Simyo Prepaid credit.

How can I top up my prepaid credit?

You can choose from standard top-ups of € 10, € 20, and € 50. You can also choose an amount between € 10 and € 100 yourself. The minimum amount you can top up is € 10.

Want to quickly check your credit without logging in? Then enable the ‘Credit on login’ (Tegoed bij login) option in the app settings. Please note: it is not possible to check your credit via a phone number.

Payment options for topping up

Top up via iDEAL and credit card

You can top up without linking your bank account. You can do this on a one-off basis using iDeal on Mijn Simyo . Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to top up using a credit card.

Top up via one-time direct debit

With Simyo Prepaid, you can top up via a one-time direct debit. This means Simyo can deduct a payment from your bank account. To do this, you need to link your bank account to your Mijn Simyo account.

To link your bank account number to your Mijn Simyo account, we first want to make sure that you're the owner of the account number you provide. We therefore ask you to make a test payment of € 0.01. You can make this test payment via iDEAL on Mijn Simyo. Once you made this test payment, the verification is complete and your account number is linked.

By linking your bank account to Mijn Simyo, you give permission for Simyo to deduct top-ups from your account in the future, but only when you ask for it. This means the deduction is not automatic, unless you choose to enable automatic top-up for your credit.

Automatic top-up

With Simyo Prepaid, you can top up automatically. This way you'll never run out of credit. Want to enable automatic top-ups? Log in to Mijn Simyo .

On your Beltegoed tegel (Credit tile) under the Overzicht section (Overview), you’ll see 'Automatisch opwaarderen aanpassen' (Adjust automatic top-up) in orange at the bottom. Click this to set up automatic top-up. You can then choose from two options:

  • You can top up automatically as soon as your call credit falls below € 2.
  • You can choose a fixed day of the month on which your call credit will be topped up.

You can pay for your automatic top-up via your bank account. Set up a connection with your bank account on Min Simyo to activate automatic top-up.

How long is my prepaid credit valid?

Your call credit is valid indefinitely as long as your SIM card is active. Make sure you use your call credit at least once every 6 months to keep your SIM active. Data bundles are always valid for 30 days.

  • Make an outgoing call

  • Sending a text message

  • Use your mobile data. Tip: Visit a website on your phone using mobile data. This will confirm that you have an internet connection.

What happens if I don't?

Haven't used your SIM card for five and a half months? We'll send you a reminder via email so you won't be faced with any surprises. Log in to Mijn Simyo or in the app to check if the correct email address is registered.

If you don't use your SIM card after that, your Prepaid expires. With an expired Prepaid connection, it is no longer possible to reactive it or keep the phone number.

Prepaid abroad
With Simyo Prepaid, you can also call, text, and use the internet abroad. The rate depends on the zone and where you are calling to. We have created a separate roaming page with all the information.

Extra Prepaid bundels

You can purchase an additional internet bundle for your Prepaid connection. If you're often using the internet on your mobile phone, it's an easy choice. You can purchase an additional internet bundle with your call credit.

How can I set up an automatic top-up?

With Simyo Prepaid , you can top up automatically.That way you'll never run out of credit. Want to enable automatic top-ups? Log in to Mijn Simyo .

I don't have any call credit, but I still have a data bundle. Why can’t I use the internet?

Once you run out of call credit, you cannot make calls, send texts or use data with your Simyo Prepaid SIM card. Even if you have an internet bundle. You will still be able to receive calls and text messages. If this happens, it is best to top up your call credit via Mijn Simyo or the Mijn Simyo app .

Tip: Restart your phone five minutes after topping up. This ensures that your activated SIM card reconnects to your phone.

Can I also top up with a top-up voucher from a store?

No, Simyo does not use top-up cards or codes. This means you cannot buy them in stores. You can top up your Prepaid SIM card via Mijn Simyo . KPN top-up cards also cannot be used to top up your Simyo SIM card.

Why don’t I see a bank charge after topping up?

Did you top up your balance via a one-time payment? It can take up to five business days before your bank processes it in your account.

My top-up could not be deducted. What can I do?

We are usually notified within three business days if your top-up could not be deducted. The top-up will then be deducted from your call credit. Please contact your bank if you don't know why the deduction was unsuccessful.

How can I cancel Prepaid and transfer my credit?

Want to transfer the call credit from one Simyo Prepaid SIM card to another? Please contact our customer service. The process is completely free and all call credit remains yours.

Give us both numbers, and tell us which connection has to be ended. Once the call credit has been transferred, we will block and disconnect the empty SIM card. You can then cut up the empty SIM card and throw it away.

Please note: any unused bonus call credit will not be transferred. This includes, for example, the free extra call credit you received when you placed your order with us. It also applies to the free call credit you receive through the FriendsDeal discount.

I’ve been disconnected. What now?

Unable to make calls or send texts and think your service has been disconnected? There could be several reasons.

Tip: First try turning your phone off and then on again. This could fix the issue.

No call credit
Can't make calls with your prepaid SIM card? Check if you have any calling credit left. If you have no calling credit left, top up your account. Your SIM card will be reactivated after you top up. Tip: Restart your phone five minutes after topping up. This will ensure that your activated SIM card reconnects to the network.

An inactive replacement SIM card
Log in to Mijn Simyo to activate your replacement SIM card. Under the heading Instellingen > Simkaart (Settings > SIM card), you will find the option 'Activeer je nieuwe simkaart' (Activate your new SIM card). Enter your new SIM card number to activate it.

You haven't used your SIM card for more than six months
To continue using your Prepaid SIM card, you have to make a call or send a text message once every six months. After five and a half months, we will send you an email as a reminder. If you still don't use the SIM card after that, your number will be disconnected. Reactivating the connection or keeping the phone number won't be possible. If you wish, you can purchase a new Prepaid SIM card .

You switched to another provider
Did you switch to another provider while keeping your phone number? Then you can no longer use your Simyo SIM card. You can contact your new provider if your SIM card is not working.

How can I automatically renew my Prepaid data bundle?

At Simyo, your Prepaid internet bundle is valid for 30 days. You can also renew it automatically.

How does it work?

Order your internet bundle on Mijn Simyo . Under the heading Overzicht (Overview), you can immediately select ‘Automatisch verlengen' (Automatically renew). Once your internet bundle expires after 30 days, you will automatically receive a new one. We will deduct the costs for this from your calling credit.

You can only automatically renew your internet bundle if you also renew your call credit automatically once it falls below €2. This way, you always have enough call credit to renew your bundle.

How to activate automatic renewal:

  • Enable ‘Automatic top-up’ via Mijn Simyo under Overzicht (Overview) if you haven't already done so,
  • Order an internet bundle on Mijn Simyo if you haven't already.
  • Activate ‘Automatic renewal’ under Overzicht (Overview).

Want a different internet bundle?

No problem! First, turn off ‘Automatisch verlengen' (Automatic renewal) in your Overview (Overzicht). Once your current internet bundle has been used up or is no longer valid, choose one of the new bundles. You can then turn ‘Automatisch verlengen’ back on again.

Can I top up for someone else?

Topping up for someone else is only possible if you have access to that person's Mijn Simyo account, because you manage their number.

Which prepaid SIM card does not expire?

With almost all providers, your calling credit expires between 6 and 9 months. This happens when you have not used your SIM card for a long time. If your call credit has expired, you still have some time to activate it. You can do this by topping up again or making a call. If this does not work, please contact customer service. If you do not do this, your SIM card will be deactivated. You will lose any remaining call credit.

How can I check my call credit?

You can only check your call credit via Mijn Simyo. Once you have logged in to Mijn Simyo with your mobile number and password, you will be taken directly to the page where your call credit is displayed. You can also view it via the Mijn Simyo app.
