How does number transfer work?

Are you switching to Simyo but want to keep your number? With mobile number portability, you can bring your existing number with you, for free. As soon as you submit your number transfer request, we’ll take care of the rest with your old provider.

What do I need for number transfer?

To successfully transfer your phone number, you only need:

  • Your phone number
  • A working SIM card for your current provider
  • A device where that SIM card works

Bringing a business number? Then we’ll also need your customer account number, which you usually find on your invoice, a bank statement, or in the customer portal of your current provider.

What happens to my old contract?

Once you’ve requested number transfer, we’ll cancel your old subscription or Prepaid for you. Your new subscription with us starts the moment your number has been successfully transferred. From then on, your bundles are active and you can use your new Simyo SIM card. That way, you avoid double costs.

Confirming your request

After submitting your request, you’ll receive a text message with a verification code. Reply with this code to confirm your number transfer. Can’t receive or send the code? Check the solution .

Checking your status

We’ll keep you updated by email every step of the way. You can also follow the status of your request in your Mijn Simyo account.

You can request number transfer during your order or afterwards via Mijn Simyo . Your number will be moved as soon as this is free of charge with your current provider. Want to switch immediately ? Let us know during your request. Note: your current provider may charge extra costs.

Confirm your request by SMS

After submitting, you’ll receive a text with a verification code. Reply with the code to confirm your request. Didn’t receive or can’t send the code? Check the solutions .

If you entered a customer account number during your request, you won’t receive an SMS.

We’ll cancel the subscription with your previous provider and arrange the switch. We’ll keep you updated by email and via Mijn Simyo.

Number transfer within Simyo

Want to switch within Simyo while keeping your number? Here’s what to do in each situation.

Switching from Prepaid to Sim Only within Simyo

You can do this easily via your Mijn Simyo account. Choose 'Overstappen naar Sim Only' (Switch to Sim Only) from your Overview. You’ll keep your SIM card and phone number, pay no activation costs, and your remaining credit will be deducted from your first invoice.

Switching from Sim Only to Prepaid within Simyo

Want to end your contract but keep your number active? Switch to Simyo Prepaid . Order a Simyo Prepaid SIM and request number transfer during your order. As soon as your subscription ends, we’ll move your number to your new prepaid SIM.

Switching from one subscription to another within Simyo

Want to switch to another subscription at Simyo? No need to order again. In Mijn Simyo , you can simply change your bundles or renew your plan with or without a new phone.

Switching from Prepaid to Prepaid within Simyo

It’s not possible to transfer your Prepaid number to another Prepaid account within Simyo. Lost your SIM card? Just request a replacement SIM via Mijn Simyo under 'Instellingen' (Settings) > 'Simkaart' (SIM card).

Can I request number transfer afterwards?

Yes, after ordering Prepaid or subscription you can still request number transfer via Mijn Simyo . Did you already cancel your subscription with your old provider? Then request it quickly to avoid losing your number.

If your number is no longer active, we can’t transfer it. You’ll get a new number instead.

I want a new number instead. Can I?

Yes. You can cancel your number transfer request up to two working days before the switch. Contact Simyo’s customer service . The temporary number you received will become your permanent number.

Do I need to cancel my old subscription myself?

No, we’ll do that for you. Already canceled it yourself? Then request a number transfer as soon as possible, or you might lose your number.

I can’t receive or confirm the verification code. What can I do?

  • Can’t reply with the code? Confirm your request via porteren.nl/simyo (you’ll still need the verification code).
  • Didn’t receive the code, but your number is still active? Confirm your request via porteren.nl/simyo with your provider’s customer number.

My verification code expired. How do I get a new one?

The code is valid for 24 hours. If it expires, request a new one in Mijn Simyo under Settings > SIM card.

Can I switch from Simyo Prepaid to Simyo Sim Only?

Yes, if you’re 18 or older. Log into Mijn Simyo and choose “Switch to Sim Only.” Your Prepaid credit will be deducted from your first invoice.

Can I switch from a Simyo subscription to Simyo Prepaid?

Yes, you can keep your number, but you’ll need a new SIM card. Order it on simyo.nl/en/prepaid and request number transfer during your order.

What happens to my Prepaid credit after number transfer?

Switching from Simyo Prepaid to Sim Only ? Your remaining credit is deducted from your first bill. From another provider? Use it up first, it can’t be transferred.

When can I use my new SIM card?

Once your number has been transferred, you can use your Simyo service. For subscriptions, first activate your SIM via Mijn Simyo . Remember: your bundles start only after the number is transferred.

Can I take my number from Simyo to another provider?

Yes, you can port your number to a new provider. Don’t cancel your contract yourself, your new provider handles this. If you’re still in a contract term, you may need to pay for the remaining months.
