What is an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital version of a SIM card, that is built directly into your device. You don’t need a physical SIM card anymore to activate or switch your mobile plan. Since 2018, many iPhone models support eSIM , allowing you to activate a cellular plan alongside your physical SIM.
That means quicker setup and the option to use two phone numbers on one device, ideal if you’re travelling or want to keep work and personal lines separate.
Benefits of using eSIM
One big benefit? No more tiny SIM cards to lose or damage. No swapping trays. And fewer physical SIM cards means less plastic so they're better for the environment.
Dual SIM is another advantage. With an eSIM, you can use two numbers on the same iPhone, for calls, messages and mobile data. Even better: downloading and using an eSIM is completely free of charge, and the eSIM is instantly available.
