How does an eSIM work?

An eSIM is a digital version of a physical SIM card. It's built into your phone and lets you activate a mobile plan without using a plastic card. You install it, no need to insert anything into your device.

With an eSIM, you can switch between plans, activate it in the Mijn Simyo app , and you're ready to go. No store visits, no plastic, no hassle. Check out our eSIM checker to see if your phone supports it.

Can I use my eSIM in other European countries?

Yes. If you have a Simyo mobile plan, you can use your minutes, texts and data across the EU and all other zone 1 countries at no extra cost. This is part of the EU's 'Roam like at home' policy.

Do I need a Dutch address for a Simyo eSIM?

Yes. Whether you choose Sim Only , a plan with a phone , or Prepaid : Simyo requires a valid Dutch address to issue an eSIM. It's not intended for tourists or temporary visitors using hotel or Airbnb addresses. Simyo eSIM is designed for people who live in the Netherlands.

How do I install and activate a Simyo eSIM?

To install your Simyo eSIM profile, you need the My Simyo app . Follow these steps:

Log in to the My Simyo app

Download the app on the phone you'll use the eSIM. Log in with your Simyo details.

Go to your SIM settings

In the app, tap 'Settings' and then 'SIM card'. Choose 'Install eSIM'.

Start the installation process

You'll see a short explanation. Tap 'Start' to continue.

Validate your request

You need to confirm your identity. The easiest way to do so is paying € 0.01 via iDEAL.

If validation fails or isn't available, contact our customer service . We're happy to help.

Choose how to use your eSIM

Will you use a second SIM too? Choose 'two SIMs'. If not, select 'One SIM'.

Install the eSIM

Your phone might ask for permission. Once approved, the installation begins.

Restart your phone

After the install is complete, restart your phone to activate the eSIM.

You're now ready to use your Simyo eSIM. If you've transferred from a physical Simyo SIM, you can now remove it, you won't need it anymore.

It depends on your data usage. Streaming video eats up more than messaging, and using Google Maps for hours can add up fast. If you plan to work remotely or upload lots of photos, go for a plan with more data. Or if you're going outside of the EU/Zone 1: a travel bundle (buitenlandbundel) .

Tip: use WiFi when possible to save cellular data.
